Royal Canin is a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of premium dog and cat foods. It was founded in 1967 in a village of Gard, France, by the French veterinary surgeon, Jean Cathary. [1] Its headquarters are now located in Aimargues, France. The company was taken over by Mars in 2002. [2] In 2004, Royal Canin acquired the IVD, Medi-Cal and Techni-Cal brands from Del Monte Foods for $82.5 million.[3]
In 2006, Royal Canin had a revenue of over one billion euros - 80% outside of France - with more than 3,200 employees, 70% of which are outside France.
